If it just so happens that your credit score falls below the minimum, don’t panic because this issue can be resolved. Never for one moment should filing for bankruptcy become an option because this will be on your record for 10 years or so.

When Should the Credit Crunch End?

I am not sure what you think but from where I am standing this credit crunch is starting to have a major negative affect. Recognised companies are going to the wall unable to continue and compete in the current downturn. Rock solid firms are also folding after being unable to borrow the money that they have become accustomed to lending. Unemployment rates are going through the roof, doom and gloom is starting to set in up and down the country. So when will this credit crunch end?

Credit Changes Affect Qualifying for Home Loans

Credit score formulas have recently changed affecting the qualification of some borrowers when financing a home purchase or refinacing a mortgage. Here are the main changes:

1. Ratio of Balance to Limit

The ratio of account balance to the amount of credit available appears to have more influence on the credit score formula. The less available credit a mortgage borrower has on credit cards, the lower the score would be. Having more credit available could result in a better score. This change could have a broad impact on credit scores used by mortgage lenders to qualifying borrowers, if credit card issuers implement more cuts on their maximum limits. A borrower’s credit score may drop if the available credit limit is reduced, whether an account has a balance or not.
